We are a band from Leksvik in the middel part of Norway,over the fiord north for Trondheim. Killingbergs tries to play all sort of music, from folk-music to hard-rock. The band are travelling around in Trondelag playing on many kind of parties like publig arrangement, weddings and more. We are a kind of family band, because everyone in the band are realited whit each other.
The history started in 1925, when Asbjørn Killingberg (todays accordion player Arnstein`s father) was playing on public arrangement`s around in Trondelag whit some relatives. People around where they was playing started to call the band Killingberg`s, because the bandmembers surname was Killingberg. Since 1925 Killingbergs have been playing on events almost every weekend, but during the second world war Killingbergs had a break for 5 years. When the war was over, the band played on the celebrationparty in Leksvik 7. may 1945.
After the war, Asbjørn`s daughters and sons start to join him in the band. Sylvi and Aud Mary was singing, Sven played the base and guitar while Arnstein was playing accordion. Around 1980 some of Asbjørn`s grandchildren also joined the band, and Asbjørn played every weekend along whit his grandchildren on partey`s around in Trondelag. Killingbergs have allways been playing music for people in all ages, so Asbjørn had to learn how to play rock`n roll as well as playing old time music. While Asbjørn`s grandchild Hilde was singing a rock`n roll song, Asbjørn played catchy accordion solos. Asbjørn Killingberg died on stage in january 1993, 79 years old.
Killingberg`s today consist of Arnstein Killingberg(cromatic accordion),Alexander Killingberg (solo-guitar and vocal),Hilde Killingberg (guitar and vocal), Grete Killingberg (vocal and accordion), Ida Killingberg (diatonic accordion and vocal), Svein Arild Bjerkan (base and vocal), Eirik Hovstein (guitar and vocal) and Thomas Stenkjær(drums).
